Dear Valued Supporter,

PictureHayward is on the move!

So much happened last year!  It is good to take a moment to reflect.

There were many new businesses that opened in Hayward…

o   Eight new restaurants in the downtown (after Council modified the liquor ordinance in 2013).
o   Two new health clubs on Whipple Rd.
o   Big 5 Sporting Goods on Foothill Blvd.
o   Black Bear Diner on Hesperian
o   The Hayward Area Historical Society museum and community center.
o   A new administration building at the Hayward Executive Airport.
There are too many small businesses throughout town to list them all - help us welcome them!

The City had a number of achievements that will help to improve our quality of life.  Here are just a few…

o   Passed Measure C to build a new library, hire more police officers & maintenance workers, and rebuild our fire stations & roads.
o
Passed tough new tobacco retailers regulations.

o
Added a new bicycle patrol in downtown.

o
Closed all of Hayward’s illegal Internet Gambling establishments.

o
Passed a tough new ordinance regulating Massage Parlors.

o
Increased our use of technology to make the Hayward Police Dept. even more effective.

And construction began on the following…

o   A new CVS Pharmacy at Mission & Harder.
o
More new restaurants and businesses downtown.

o
A new Fire Station #7 and community health center at Tennyson & Huntwood.

o
Southland Mall is building a new health club and making other improvements.

There is so much more to do in 2015.  Here are a few of my priorities…

o  Creating a Hayward Innovation Corridor to attract new companies and new jobs.
o   Building a destination park in S. Hayward near Mission & Valle Vista
o   Partnering with HUSD and HARD to meet the needs of our youth.

Sincerely,
Picture
