A Vision for Hayward's Future
Together, Let's Commit to:
Make Hayward Safer
Public safety is the number one job of local government, and I understand the importance of keeping well trained and well staffed police and fire departments. Even in difficult budget times, I will fight to maintain staffing levels for public safety in Hayward. We also need to make greater use of technology as a tool for making our city safer.

Bring More Jobs & Shopping to Hayward
Too many Hayward residents feel they have to leave the city to go shopping. With a decade of experience on planning issues, I know what attracts - and doesn’t attract - businesses to Hayward. On the Council, I will market our city as a desirable location for retail, development, and other business interests. I will work to streamline the permit process so businesses can start up more easily here. Making Hayward more business friendly means we will create more new jobs right here for our residents.
|
Make Hayward More Attractive
People want to live, residents want to work, and businesses want to open in a town that is clean and green. Together we can make real and noticeable improvements to the way Hayward looks and is perceived. We need to combat blight by encouraging people to improve their properties, and by requiring landlords to maintain their properties.
|
Put Hayward on a Sustainable Path
Hayward needs to be sustainable both fiscally and environmentally. We need to adjust our City budget to fit the new economic reality. I stand ready to make the difficult choices required to ensure that our budget is in long term balance. And we should continue to reduce our costs and protect the planet by greening our infrastructure over time.
|
Make Hayward More Youth Friendly
Our young people deserve safe and inviting places for recreation here in Hayward. If elected, I will be the only Council member with young children, and I will bring the perspective of young families with me to City Hall. I will work to identify at least one location for a cluster of teen-friendly businesses to create a youth-friendly destination for Hayward’s kids.
